Chicago Tribune: Remember the Arizona?

Chicago PM Wednesday 2 June 2010

Voice of the People, Chicago Tribune

Gentlepeople:

The Chicago Tribune of Thursday May 27 had a letter “changed nation” that says “There was a rallying cry throughout our nation after... Pearl Harbor [that] went 'Remember the Arizona,'" a battle ship that was lost in that attack.

A search of the Tribune historic archive (1849-1984) shows 151 occurances of the phrase “Remember Pearl Harbor”, but not a single mention of “Remember the Arizona.” The letter also says The Arizona was “sunk with all aboard.” Eleven hundred seventy crew were lost in that sinking, but there were 320 survivors.
