Chicago AM 10 September 2010
Editors, The New York Times
Gentlepeople:
The New York Times has a letter on Friday 10 September from a Chicago resident responding to your September 9 “After Mayor Daley” Editorial saying "One little-heralded success of his regime has been the revitalization of the city’s library system."
For whatever reason, the writer omitted the news that as of 2 January 2010 the hours of most of the city's 76 branches have been cut from 64 to 48 hours per week.
Aside from that, we do have a valuable, well used, and competently staffed public library system.
